Important Coronavirus Updates from the President: JCNC Bhawan and Temple Closed Until April 7

Your Executive Committee is constantly reviewing the fast-evolving situation arising from the
upsurge in cases, over the past few days, in the Bay Area. Health, Safety, and wellbeing of
members, visitors and employees is our top priority.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, as of March 16 at 12:10 pm, out of 490 confirmed cases in
California 251 (51%) are in the Bay Area and within the Bay Area, Santa Clara County is worst
affected with 138 confirmed cases. There are 6 confirmed deaths reported in California. In the
United States, Bay Area, CA is worst affected after Seattle, WA.
Today, Health Officials in 6 Bay Area counties, including Santa Clara, issued a sweeping
shelter-in-place mandate, until April 7, affecting nearly 7 million people. Residents must stay
at home and go outside ONLY for food, medicine & outings that are absolutely essential.
Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 issued stringent recommendations on the size of

a role to play at such a critical juncture.
To prevent further spread, your EC has decided to close, until April 7, JCNC Bhawan and
Temple to members, visitors, volunteers, and employees. Please do not come or visit JCNC
Bhawan and Temple. We have sent JCNC employees on paid leave until further notice. During
the closure of the Bhawan, daily religious rituals will be performed by Poojary and designated

organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of
50 people or more throughout the United States. In compliance with the CDC guidance, your
EC has decided to cancel all events, programs, and activities at JCNC up to May 15, 2020.
