Jai Jinendra,

With great sorrow and a heavy heart, we are grieving the loss of Smt. Kusum Devi Jain, mother of Shri Sudhanshu Jain, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021 in New Delhi. She visited us many times in the last 15 years and has participated with us in many vidhaans, puja and swadhyay classes. Her knowledge of Jain scripture was exemplary.

She is survived by her three children and five grandchildren. She was born in Meerut into a Jain Family. For her whole life, she remains a devout Jain Shravak.

She will be remembered as an exceptionally loving and caring person by the entire Sangh, and a person of strength who raised her three children as a single mother, after the death of her husband at a young age.

Sudhanshu Ji Jain and family would like to invite you all to a Shanti Vidhaan via Zoom:

Letter from Veerayatan, India

JCNC President

Jai Jinendra,

For us, living here in the US, in an Anarya Kshetra, the sheer physical distance between our Pujya Sadhu-Sadhviji Bhagwant, and us might be a lot. Still, our constant thirst for their blessings, and yearning for their presence is something that we all possess immensely.

After hearing the news of Yuvacharya Shubhamji’s untimely departure for eternal journey / Moksh Marg, all four Jain centers of California organized a Gunanuvad prayer sabha on January 9, 2021.  Please click on the link to view the event on YouTube:  https://youtu.be/rgwgKegbMMY

We have attached a letter received from Pujya Sadhvi Sanghamitraji, Veerayatan

JCNC sincerely thanks volunteers from across all CA Centers for helping organize the event at a short notice.

Sincerely,

Biren Shah

[Yuvacharya Sadhvi Shubhamji [October 3, 1957 - January 2, 2021]

"Soul is the central point of spiritual discipline" - Tirthankar Mahaveer

Jai Jinendra,

Born as Shobha, Yuvacharya Sadhvi Shubhamji became a disciple of Acharya Chandanaji at a very early age. After spending her initial years gaining an in-depth knowledge of multiple religious scriptures, she dedicated her life to Seva (Service), Siksha (Education) and Sadhna (Spirituality).

In her early youth she led multiple humanitarian projects at Veerayatan.  Not only was she blessed with a sound understanding of religious principles, but her strong mindfulness also enabled her to perform multiple long ‘Avdhaans’ (remembering and responding to 100 + questions) at a very young age.

As Veerayatan expanded globally she traveled to many countries around the world preaching Jain Values to all ages.  She developed one on one life transformation relationships with many around the world

She was loving, kind, calm, simple and jovial.  She was an embodiment of non-attachment, completely free of all aversions. She was a true saint who not only attracted humans but birds and animals as well.  Free birds including parrots used to fly up to her, sit on her shoulders, eat from her hands, spend time with her and fly away only to return back.

She was anointed Yuvacharya of Veerayatan by Acharya Chandnaji a few years back which was celebrated by the Jain community all around the world.

She had recently developed some lever related ailment and was being treated at a reputed hospital in Pune.  Surrounded by Veerayatan Sadhvi Ji’s, her well-wishers and many volunteers she remained calm and in complete tranquility in her final moments in the same way she was the rest of her life.

She was given Santhara by Acharya Chandnaji at 12:30 am on January 2 at Jupiter Hospital, Pune, and left for her heavenly abode at 6 am.  Sadhvi Shilapiji, Sadhvi Shrutiji and Sadhvi Manasviji were with her in her final moments.

As she left for her heavenly abode, she wished the world well before she left and continued to shower her blessings from her new abode.

At JCNC we have many memories of her as she blessed our centers a few times.

While we understandably feel sad at this huge loss, let us take a moment to remember her smiling face, her calm spiritual influence, the warmth of her pure selfless love & kindness for each one of us.  Let us pay our obeisance to her by celebrating her amazing life and incorporating the values she taught us in our own lives.

Please consider observing a 2-minute meditation prayer after reading this message.

JCNC together with other CA Centers are planning a Shraddhanjali Zoom event and we will communicate details soon.

Sincerely,

Biren Shah

Maun Ekadashi

Maun Agyaras is considered to be one of the very auspicious day marking the 150 Kalyanak of the Tirthankar Bhagwan of the past, present and future.

It falls on the 11th day in the month of Magshar (Magshar Sud 11).

The auspicious day for observing Maun (silence), Paushadh, Chauvihar Upavas (Fasting), Jaap, Meditation, Kausagga, Navkarwali, Dev Vandan, Pratikraman, Contemplation of 12 Bhavna, Pooja( Worship), 12 type of Tap.

This year Maun Agyaras is on Friday -12/25/20.

The story of Suvrat Shresthi is connected with this day, which was narrated to Vasudev Krishna Maharaj by 22nd Jineshwar Bhagwan Shri Neminath Swami.

Bhagwan Shri Neminath and Krishnavasudev :

Once when Bhagwan Shri Neminath Swami was giving sermon in the Samovsaran in Dwarka; Krishna Maharaj who always thought of doing dharma aradhana inspite of being a Vasudev King; bowed before Shri Neminath Swami and asked him “Hey Lord, being a King I am unable to find time from the responsibilities of governing the kingdom. So please tell me about one prominent -auspicious day from the whole year on which I should remain free from the governance of kingdom and indulge and immerse myself in dharma aradhana which will give me the best and maximum results and enlighten my whole life”

To this Shri Neminath Swami replied, “Hey Krishna, if you have a wish know of this kind day then the 11th day (Ekadashi) of the bright half of Magshar month (Magshar Sud 11) is the best, excellent, auspicious day on which you should do all the aradhana observing Maun – Chovihar Upavas – Tap-Jaap -Conduct all the rites related to this day.” He also explained the significance of this day and narrated the story of Suvrat Sheth.

Significance of Maun Ekadashi :

On this day of Magshar Sud Ekadashi -
1) 18th Tirthankar Bhagwan Shri Aranath Swami -   Diksha Kalyanak -

Bhagwan was a Chakravarti Samrat (King) who renounced the world and took diksha to become a sadhu on this day.

2) 19th Tirthankar Bhagwan Shri Mallinath Swami – Janma, Diksha and Keval Gyan Kalyanak

was born, renounced the world to become a sadhu and attained Kevalgyan on this day.

3) 21st Tirthankar Bhagwan Shri Naminath Swami – Kevalgyan Kalyanak

attained Kevalgyan on this day.

Thus 5 Kalyanak of the three Tirthankar Bhagwan from Bharat Kshetra of Jambu Dweep, are observed on this day.

Similarly 5 Kalyanak of the three Tirthankar Bhagwan from Airavat Kshetra of Jambu Dweep,

Similarly from Ghakti Khand - 5 each from Purva Bharat Kshetra, Paschim Bharat Kshetra, Purva Airavat Kshetra and Paschim Airavat Kshetra.

Similarly from Pushkarwar Dweep - 5 each from Purva Bharat Kshetra, Paschim Bharat Kshetra, Purva Airavat Kshetra and Paschim Airavat Kshetra.

[       ( 5 kalyanaks in 5 Bharatkshetras comes up to 25 Kalyanak and 25 Kaylanak in the 5 Airavtkshetras  =  50 Kalyanak in all the Kshetras.

OR

( 10 from Jambu Dweep, 20 from Ghatki Khand, 20 from PushkarwarDweep = 50 Kalyanak)   ]

50 Kalyanak for the past, present and future Chauvishi gives us 150 Kalyanaks (50 x3).

90 Bhagwan’s 150 Kalyanak.

Any dharma aradhana performed with Sudha Vidhi on this day is multifold 150 times, and will do Karma Nirjara leading to Moksh.

It is said that at the moment the Kalyanak of Tirthankara Bhagwan, even the Jeev in Narak feels happiness and relieved from the pain, misery and unhappiness for a moment. Whole world experiences a wave of happiness during the auspicious moments of the Kalyanak.

On this day the following religious activities are done :

A Chauvihar Upavas is observed in Paushadh with Maun

150 Navkarvali - one mala of each Kalyanak pad,

Dev Vandan

Kausagga

Aradhana to be done at home.

In Memoriam – Kamlesh Jain, Cranston, RI

Jai Jinendra,

We are profoundly grieved to inform you that our mother Kamlesh Jain (Mummyji), a dedicated wife, loving mother to three children and grandmother to six grandchildren passed away on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at the age of 78.

Our mother was born on Mar 5th, 1942 to Trilok Chand and Kailash Jain in Sardhana, Uttar Pradesh, India. She did her bachelor’s degree from Vanasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan, India. She dedicated her life to raising us – Sudhanshu, Vandana and Himanshu. She committed herself to her husband, Vimal Prakash Jain, his health and well-being for over 50 years of their married life.

Our mother had infinite and unconditional love to give. She was a singular thread of love and support that ran through and bound the extended family on both her and our father’s side. She loved and cared for near and dear ones, and those less fortunate. The world around us found comfort and compassion in her. She taught us not to hurt anyone physically and never emotionally.

It gave her satisfaction to watch her family enjoy her cooking. That fed her stomach and soul. She helped raise our children, taking care of them as infants and toddlers. She took care of her own parents as they got older. She took care of her old mother-in-law, with superhuman strength physically carrying her when needed.

Our mother is survived by our father and her husband Vimal Prakash Jain; us, our spouses, and children; her loving brothers Naresh and Girish Jain; and Sisters Meenakshi, Gagan and Kamini Jain.

Her cremation will be held on Tue, Dec 22nd at the Swan Point Cemetery Crematorium, Rhode Island.

We will organize a prayer service in her memory as things normalize. Please keep Mummyji in your prayers.
